UKPIA actively encourages dialogue with other industry sectors and the Competent Authority*:
- regularly promoting process safety initiatives through conferences and trade press
- when appropriate, publishing white papers on key process safety topics
- helping the industry in interpretation of current legislation and guidance
- providing background information on process safety initiatives
*The Competent Authority consists of the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, and provides independent regulation of the major hazard industries.
