LAUNCH OF PROCESS SAFETY LEADERSHIP GROUP’S PRINCIPLES
Another step forward in reinforcing safety standards in the downstream oil industry was taken today with the launch of the Process Safety Principles document that reinforces the importance of clear and positive process safety leadership in effective management of major hazard businesses.
The document outlining the principles has been agreed by the Process Safety Leadership Group (PSLG) that is made up of key representatives from downstream oil refining, marketing and storage, petrochemicals and pipeline industries – together with the Health & Safety Executive, Environment Agencies and the Unions
Commenting on today’s launch, Chris Hunt, Director General of UKPIA said, “As a key member of PSLG, UKPIA welcomes its commitment to the enhancement of process safety. UKPIA has developed a similar initiative and will reflect the Process Safety Principles through its own Process Safety Leadership Commitment, signed by all UKPIA member companies”.
He continued, “Our members, through the implementation of UKPIA’s Process Safety Commitment, are fully engaged in the continuing enhancement of process safety and the effective management of risks in our businesses."
