19th May 2004 UK OIL INDUSTRY FACTS AND FIGURES – STATISTICAL REVIEW 2004 With fuel prices and concerns over international price pressures much in the news, UKPIA, the trade association representing the main oil refining and marketing companies in the UK, today publishes its 2004 Statistical Review of the downstream oil industry. The publication brings together in one document a wide range of statistics and facts on the downstream industry in the UK, covering areas such as refining, where we obtain our crude oil from, distribution and consumption of transport fuels, filling stations, air quality and environmental impact. UKPIA President, Ken Rivers, announcing the publication of the Review said “As well as being an invaluable source of reference, I hope the Review sheds some light on the scope of what we do and the contribution the UK downstream oil industry makes to the UK economy and, indeed, everyday life.” Minister for Energy Stephen Timms in his Foreword commented “ The Review is an excellent example of the partnership between Government and industry.
