Murco Milford Haven Refinery
PO Box 10, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire SA73 3JD
Tel: 01646 690300
Operated by Total as a 70/30 joint venture with Murco until late 2007 when Murco acquired the majority interest, the refinery originally came on stream in 1973 under Amoco's ownership. Murco joined as a partner in 1981 when a catalytic cracker was added. Elf acquired Amoco's interest in 1990 and Elf was acquired by Total in 2000.
A major upgrade was carried out in 1981 and since then further units have been added, notably a naptha isomerisation unit and a hydrodesulphurisation unit.
The nearby marine terminal, to which the refinery is linked by mainly underground pipeline, is capable of handling tankers up to 275,000 tons deadweight. Refined products are distributed by road, rail, sea and pipeline to the Midlands and Manchester.
